A code can be understood as a set of rules, conventions, and traditions of syntax and grammar that structure the communication of information. The discipline of architecture relies on its own language of lineweights and linetypes. These drawings explore the graphic and figural potential of drawing conventions, liberated from the constraints of communication and description. Lines (from thick to thin and dash to dot) approximate the object through accumulation—the result is ambiguous rather than indexical.
Over the course of three weeks, I wrote a custom grashopper definition could “read” and decompose any three-dimensional object into Lineweight, stroke length, and linetype could all be controlled. All images shown were generated directly from grasshopper/rhino without any post-processing in illustrator
